Since this upcoming 37th Culture Shock covers all aspects of “Americana,” I figured it may be useful to dive into the theme’s history, definition, and application (because it’s a super fun theme and I’m SO excited to see it in action this weekend!)

Jeff Greenspan On "Deviant Acts"

Jeff Greenspan is a guy who wears a lot of hats – comedian, artist, activist, and even former ad agency creative. But at the core of everything he does is a deep curiosity about people and the systems that shape our lives. In an interview with WIUX, Greenspan talked about his comedy show “Deviant Acts" that blends humor and activism, while using satire to challenge authority, and why he thinks public spaces are the best places for creative expression.

Record Store Day 2024: What You Need to Know

What is the HumDrum Press?

I had the pleasure of interviewing Max DiFrisco and Braeden Janes, two founders of the HumDrum Press, an independent record label started a few months ago in town. Bloomington Man Sentenced to Over Three Years in Federal Prison for Wire Fraud Conspiracy to Steal Over $669,000 from Businesses and COVID-19 Programs

On Monday, October 23, the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Southern District of Indiana announced that Robert K. Hall, 73, of Bloomington, Indiana, has been sentenced to 41 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to a massive conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering. This decision was reached in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana located in Evansville, Indiana. 

My Time With The Skaaholics

For last year's annual Culture Shock music festival, I had the pleasure of talking to the members of The Skaaholics. They are a fusion band that combines elements of Ska, Rock, Reggae, Punk, Dub, Hip-Hop, and Latin rhythms.
