The Eras of Trish: Trisha Paytas, Live!

Last Thursday I had the pleasure of seeing the Eras of Trisha Tour. Trisha Paytas has been on Youtube since 2007, and she has been popular in the media throughout her time online. Obviously, Trisha has been extremely controversial in the past, but many people have changed their opinions on her recently. She came from a very dark place, and now she has two kids and seems to be thriving. Trisha’s current brand has migrated toward being a broadway obsessed podcaster and mom of two.

Going into it, I was not sure what to expect. My friends and I spent $125 on our tickets, so I was hoping I would at least get my money’s worth from this experience. The show started shortly after we sat down and she did not have an opening act. It started with a video of all of Trisha’s most iconic moments, which was one of my favorite parts of the show. There was Trisha crying on her floor, saying she’s a chicken nugget, and saying “what… oh… okay” in the drive thru. The whole audience was laughing, and it seemed like Trisha was also able to laugh at herself. One of the great mysteries of Trisha is that no one ever knows if she is trolling or 100% serious!

She then came out and sang a couple of her songs with the music videos on the big screen, and she started out with some of the lesser known songs. After singing a few, she started to talk to the audience and asked where she should eat in Indiana. She also said something along the lines of “I don’t really have anything planned… I just thought we could hang out.” While she was talking to the audience, she took some interesting a-capella karaoke requests. It also wouldn’t be a Trisha show without us watching clips of her singing Broadway songs, and then watching her sing those exact same songs live. She also mentioned that had lost her voice after being in Trisha’s Big Broadway Dream in early February, another live stage event.

Finally, we got into the part of the show that we all came for. Trisha sang her most iconic songs with the music videos that have been a part of Instagram memes for years. She sang her “Bet on It” cover from High School Musical 2, and she obviously had to have her Troy-Bolton-inspired music video behind her; I didn’t know if I wanted to watch her or watch the video again! After a few more iconic songs, Trisha left the stage. We knew that there would be an encore (because we had the setlist,) but everyone else started to leave. We were about to start chanting, but she finally came back out to sing her song “Freaky."I actually loved the ending and I thought it gave Kim Petras vibes!

Overall, I was not sure if I should expect a talk show or full on concert, but I loved it. I would definitely recommend the Eras of Trish Tour, mostly for the plot. Maybe I shouldn’t have spent so much money on this experience, but I am honored to say I saw Trisha Paytas singing "I Love You Jesus" live.
