On October 15th, 2023 WIUX had the opportunity to do a pre-show interview with Merce Lemon, opener for the band Horse Jumper of Love, at the local bar, The Bishop. The pre-show interview was arranged by the band's label, Darling Records, with the interview conducted by WIUX’s Keegan Priest. Videography of the Merce Lemon show will be posted on the WIUX YouTube page or WIUX.org.
From Pittsburgh, PA, Merce Lemon opened with a strong performance of new and old songs. Interview questions covered the growing Pittsburgh indie and DIY music scene, favorite songs, and outside musical influences. The interview even discussed the changes in direction and inspiration since their last release, Moonth, in 2020. Interview questions and responses can be found on the WIUX Instagram page.
Horse Jumper of Love, a slowcore/shoegaze three-piece band from Boston, played next in the packed venue. Many members of WIUX also stuck around to catch this set, which was just as captivating. The band performed songs from their latest album and other favorites across their developing discography.
