The internet was in a frenzy earlier this week when Ryan Adam's released the lead single "Bad Blood" from his upcoming back to front cover album of Taylor Swifts' 1989 which will be released this Monday September 21st. Ryan Adams originally announced his plan to cover the album on August 5th via his Instagram account stating his aim to cover it "as played by The Smiths" later Instrgramming that the album would include the "Guaranteed saddest version of Welcome to New York ever - or your tears back". Whether we get our tears back is still up in the air, but I reckon that Ryan Adams will be correct.
This is not Ryan Adams' first foray into the cover game. In fact he frequently likes to rework and create his own versions of songs including The Rolling Stone's "Brown Sugar", Elton John's "Daniel", The Stokes "Last Nite", The Grateful Dead "Wharf Rat", Madonna's "Like a Virgin", and Oasis' "Wonderwall".
The track list is:
- Welcome to New York
- Blank Space
- Style
- Out of the Woods
- All You Had To Do Was Stay
- Shake It Off
- I Wish You Would
- Bad Blood
- Wildest Dreams
- How You Get the Girl
- This Love
- I Know Places
- Clean
