Even if you’ve only dipped your toes in indie rock, you’ve most likely heard of the bands Cloud Nothings and Wavvess. Dylan Baldi (Cloud Nothings’ frontman) and Nathan Williams (Wavves’ frontman), two of lo-fi/indie punk’s biggest players, come together to rock our freakin’ minds. The LP No Life For Me is truly a treat for all Indie Rock fans out there.
According to SPIN, Williams and Baldi had met while on tour together some years ago. Williams, who as of lately has spent a lot of time producing, reached out to Baldi in the Spring of 2014 asking if he’d be down for a collaboration and a few weeks later they had already began.
Recorded and produced by LA’s Sweet Valley, aka Nathan Williams and brother Kynan Williams, and released by Ghost Ramp label, No Life For Me brings back warm fuzzy memories of the lo-fi beginnings of each artist.
Day 1 Wavves fans can appreciate the classic “ooohhhs”, flashback to early Wavves albums with Wavves (2008) and Wavvves (2009), in the third track of the LP “Come Down”. Cloud Nothings fans will get their fix from Baldi’s blood pumping screams in the fourth track “Hard To Find”, with a familiar sound to the tracks on Attack On Memory (2009). Bringing it all together, the title track “No Life For Me” shows the strengths of both Baldi and Williams, making it one of the best tracks off the LP.
