Tevin Coleman kept his 100-yard rushing streak alive at nine games versus MSU. In this soundbite, the IU running back talks Heisman, working with freshman QB Zander Diamont and the Michigan State defense.
Game Recap:
The Indiana Hoosiers came out looked respectable in the first half of its homecoming game. Tevin Coleman rushed for 118 yards against the highly touted Michigan State run defense. Zander Diamont, though shaky, managed the game relatively well. At one point in the second quarter, the Hoosiers were even able to take a 17-14 lead. However, from that moment on, it was all Michigan State. The passing game, led by quarterback Connor Cook, came out firing. Whenever Cook’s passes looked a little rough, his receivers were somehow still there to receive the ball. Cook finished the game 24-for-32 with 332 yards, 3 TDs, and 1 interception. Even the Spartan run game picked up, finishing with 330 yards and 5 TDs, led by Nick Hill and his 178 yards. Conversely, the Hoosiers' second half was miserable. At one point, Zander Diamont was 2 for 7 with -2 yards passing. He finished 5/15 with 11 yards passing. Tevin Coleman was shut down in the second half, but he finished with 132 rushing yards to put his season total at 1,192. The Spartans finished with almost 3 times as many yards of total offense, 662 to 224. Ultimately, Diamont looked raw and, frankly, not very good. Losing Tre Roberson and Cameron Coffman in the off-season to transfers really tolled destruction for this game.
