This Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 7pm, The Bluebird is hosting Communion’s November Club Night, with performances from Tennis, Nathanial Rateliff and the Night Sweats, Savior Adore, On An On, The 4onthefloor, Kam Kama, and Skeleton Men. Communion is an community that encourages and assists artist in the music business, and focuses on fostering connections between musicians and their fans. Every month this community, with the help of some very talented musicians, puts on shows in several cities across the country. Communion Club Night at the Bluebird will be the second time Bloomington has taken part. Communion was founded by Ben Lovett (of Mumford and Sons), Kevin Jones (of Bear’s Den) and Ian Grimble in London in 2006. It has since spread to the United States, and recently picked up WIUX’s own Kaylie Starkey as Bloomington’s Event Promoter.
The performances include all different genres, and each artist was hand selected by Ben Lovett and members of the community. Seven artists in one night is a lot of party at just one venue, and The Bluebird plans to host this event every month. Tennis offers a sweet sunny feel with rough drums and feminine high vocals, while Nathanial Rateliff and the Night Sweats counter with a richer acoustic feel. Savoir Adore has a bit of an electronic melodic thing going for it, while On An On is a little more muted. Kam Kama is pretty upbeat with an interesting vocal sound. Basically, there is going to be a lot of different tunes happening at the Bluebird, next Tuesday and every month after. Communion has put together a unique and exciting combination for this month, and I personally can’t wait to attend. Such a diverse show promises to have a lot to offer any listener.
