Another creation from the Yours Truly x adidas original series, Songs from Scratch, another gem. The series that previously gave us the smoldering Shlohmo and Jeremih track "Bo Peep (Do U Right)" has now given us a bouncy, melodic collaboration from Baauer and Fetty Wap. Though you probably only know him from "Trap Queen" and his Kanye co-sign, Fetty Wap is showing why he has all the makings of being the next Future. On the production side, listeners can only hope this recent trend of hip-hop tracks from Baauer keeps up as each one has seemingly been better than the previous one.
By continuing the narrative of death found on "Casimir Pulaski Day" off of 2005's exquisite Illinois, Sufjan Stevens has once again crafted a masterpiece with "Fourth of July". The track off of his new LP Carrie and Lowell finds Stevens contemplating his mortality as he watched his mother pass. The heart-wrenching lyrics placed over the delicate instrumental make for one of the decade's most emotive songs.

That brings us to the present where Makonnen has established himself as one of the most unique and innovative young talents in hip-hop. Water 5, as most mixtapes do, have its highs ("Whip It (Remix) with Migos and Rich The Kid) and its lows ( the dreadful "Other Guys"). Is it worth a whole listen? Probably not. Is it worth picking through for the highlights? Definitely.
Soul sample, a creeping melody, and some creative drum work make for an impressive output from Rascal. The track slows down and receives a soulful, pitched-down vocal before being thrust right back into the instrumental madness.
If you somehow don't know this at this point, brace yourself for some bad news. Flume is leaving What So Not. That's painful to say. WSN's upcoming EP is the last that will feature production from Flume and today we received the first hint of what direction it'll take with "Gemini".
If you're looking for the most innovative, visceral sounds in current electronic music look to TroyBoi. His flip of Father's "Wrist" gives the verses much needed energy while keeping the impossibly catchy (and repetitive) chorus intact.
If an artist's logo has ever matched their sound, it's marshmello. "Want U 2" soars with it's high-end lead synth and hyperactive spirit.
