WIUX’s Annual Pledge Drive is upon us! Each year, the station holds the drive in order to raise money to keep WIUX up and running, bringing you pure student radio. Pledge drive events will be going on all week long, and we are inviting you (and all your friends) to come hang out with us and raise money for the place we all love dearly.
Tuesday, October 11, join us at Mother Bear’s pizza at 1428 E. 3rd St. from 12 pm to 9 pm. Proceeds from your meal will go to WIUX when you show off your coupon, so make sure you print one off or pick one up at the station! The restaurant will NOT be accepting digital coupons. You can find the coupon on WIUX’s Facebook page.
After that, get a good night’s rest after stuffing yourself with some damn good pizza, because the next night on Wednesday, October 12, find yourself at the station house (located at 717 E. 8th St.) from 7 to 9 pm and enjoy good ol’ comedy! Brought to you in part by WIUX’s only sketch comedy show, Radio Ha Ha, laugh your ass off for only a $3 entry. The night will be hosted and emcee’d by station manager and co-creator of Radio Ha Ha Brian Berger, and include acts from Full Frontal Comedy, Ladies Night Comedy, and a few of your favorite Radio Ha Ha cast members!
Thursday, October 13, get ready for the most exciting 24 hours of your radio-listening life – we’ve got a whole day’s worth of exciting and unique programming that you’ve never heard anything like before. Tune in at 99.1, and hey, just leave it on all day long. The party doesn’t stop.
Finally, Friday, October 14, we have what we’ve all been waiting for – WIUX’s Pledge Drive Show! This year, we have performances from Hala and Ne-Hi. The show will be located at Serendipity Martini Bar (but don’t fret, it’s 18 and over, so you and all your friends can come!) Doors open at 7 pm. Pre-sale tickets can be bought here or at the station house for $7. They will be $10 the day of the show – not bad for hearing some great live music and helping out the station!
Be sure to check out these pledge drive events; they help to raise money for a great radio station that many of us hold near and dear to our hearts, and you get to eat pizza, laugh, and hear great music! Isn’t that just a great formula?
