Despite his appearance in (the worst song of 2013) “Blurred Lines”, despite coming off as borderline cheesy with “Happy”, Pharrell Williams just dropped us all a reminder that he’s still every bit the innovative, creative genius that he always has been. The video for “It Girl”, the final track off of his most recent album G I R L, holds in the long tradition of imaginative videos from Pharrell.
Williams commissioned Japanese artists Mr. and Fantasista Utamaro to direct the video, which is equal parts: anime, gameboy color and acid trip. While Pharrell appears in many different forms in the video, his music perfectly matches the light spirit of the video throughout.
