WIUX PARTICIPATES IN THIRD ANNUAL COLLEGE RADIO DAY Station chosen to appear on event’s national album

BLOOMINGTON, In.— On October 1, WIUX 99.1 FM will be participating in the Third Annual College Radio Day and will be featured on the event’s 2013 album.

College Radio Day is a worldwide event that seeks to gain recognition for the impact that college radio has on the world of independent music. To help raise awareness, the event has started compiling albums featuring music from acclaimed alternative and indie musicians. However, this year’s album has the added bonus of including some of the best college radio performances of the year, featuring Indiana University’s own WIUX.

The track from WIUX will feature a song from the Bloomington band Charlie Patton’s War, recorded and pro- duced by the talented students of the WIUX production team. The track was part of the Live from the Black Box performace, presented by WIUX and the University Players in February, which was entirely live-recorded and filmed by WIUX.

In order to successfully complete this project, College Radio Day has launched a crowd-funding campaign through Indiegogo.com to help finance the making of the album. The current goal is $5000, and contribu- tions can be made through the following link: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/college-radio-day-the-al- bum-volume-2.

Donations will be accepted until October 12, and the album (College Radio Day – The Album – Vol. 2) re- lease date is set for November 12.

In addition to being featured on the album, WIUX will also be providing specialty progamming throughout the day on October 1, and encourages everyone to make a conscious effort to support college radio on this day.
